basic income....

if you could end poverty....  end homelessness....  today....  would you....  well....  you can....  you really can....  if you REALLY want to....  and eye am going to tell you how....

the welfare system....  or welfare STATE in this country....  is nearly a one trillion dollar industry....  it is part of the government....  so it is not actually an industry....  but the federal government spends nearly one trillion dollars a year on welfare....  on attempting....  to eliminate homelessness in the united states....  on attempting....  to eliminate poverty in this country....  

eye am going to take a quick side track for a moment....  and ask....  does the federal government really want to eliminate poverty....  do the democrats really want to end poverty....  do they really want to end homelessness....  here is the rub....  if the democrats end poverty....  they will eliminate a reason that millions upon millions of people vote for them....  they will lose one of the primary issues that give them power....  so....  eye ask you....  do they really want to eliminate poverty....  do they really want to eliminate homelessness....  eye will even make a hypothesis....  that the democrats....  try to pull people into poverty....  and then once they get them there....  they try to keep them there....  because the more people who are homeless....  the more people who are in poverty....  the more people who are dependent on the welfare state....  AND....  the more people they have to vote for them....  the poor vote for democrats FAR more than they vote for republicans....  eye say....  it is because of their dependence on the democrats....

now....  back to the topic at hand....  eye can and WILL end poverty in this country....  eye can and WILL end homelessness....  eye will do this....  by creating a basic income....  which everyone in this country will receive....  everyone over the age of eighteen that is.... 

and....  there will be no poverty trap built into this basic income....  the basic income will NOT go away when you make more money....  so....  there will be no incentive for anyone to keep their income below a target level in order to continue receiving the benefits....  to continue receiving the basic income....  so....  there will be no poverty traps....  no incentive to keep your income below a certain level....  

the annual basic income will be targeted to be slightly above the poverty level....  pulling EVERYONE out of poverty on day one....  putting an end to poverty in this country....  once and for all....

how will eye pay for this....  you ask....  eye will pay for the majority of the basic income by shutting down the welfare state....  and combining it with social security....  implementing the basic income will cost approximately three point seven trillion dollars a year to implement....  the majority of funding for the basic income will come from shutting down the welfare state and social security....  shutting down the welfare state will provide nearly one trillion dollars....  shutting down social security will provide another one point four trillion dollars....  this leaves one point three trillion that needs to be funded....  if we raised this money by increasing taxes....  it would cost everyone five thousand dollars a year....  this means....  if the basic income was set at fifteen thousand dollars per year....  then the net basic income would be ten thousand dollars per year instead of fifteen thousand dollars per year....  however....  with the other changes that eye will make....  eye am certain....  that there will be no need to raise taxes to provide the additional funding....  for instance....  by eliminating the national debt....  nearly seven hundred billion....  or roughly half of the funds necessary for the basic income....  will be provided by the elimination of annual interest payments on the national debt....  taxing unrealized gains will provide a one time windfall profit for the government....  large enough....  to pay off the national debt....  eye WILL tax unrealized gains....  as part of the implementation of a flat tax....  additional funding will come from growing the national pie....  increasing gdp....  through simplification of the government....  for instance....  eliminating the welfare state....  will free up several hundred thousand people....  to become a productive part of the economy....  growing the national pie....

the basic income WILL also end homelessness....  by implementing one simple rule....  that simple rule is....  in order to receive the basic income....  you have to have a physical address....  who....  in their right mind....  would pass up ten to twenty thousand dollars a year....  just to avoid having a home....  a place....  without all the rules of a homeless shelter....  where they could go....  how many people would pass this up....  eye have got to think....  that the number who would not find a home....   in order to receive the basic income....  would be very very very very small....

now....  you say....  where is someone going to live on twelve thousand dollars a year....  eye think....  with a little cooperation from city governments....  that an entirely new economy would develop around this basic income....  people would build apartment complexes....  with very small apartments.... 

eye lived in a jail cell....  with about one hundred square feet....  for two months....  so....  what is to keep a homeless person from trading up....  and living in a hundred square foot apartment....  rather than on the street....  it will not luxury living....  but it will be a start....  it is my estimate....  that places could be built and offered for around four hundred dollars a month....  which would be forty percent of their income....  which is the same percentage as the average american pays for a household in the united states....  

forgive me....  every time eye come back to this chapter....  eye think of a different number for the basic income....  at some point eye will come back and rewrite it....  and tie everything together....  tie all of the numbers together....  stay tuned....  

eye need to point out....  that eye will create a trust for the basic income....  the trust will be separate from the trust that will be managed by the moon and poseiden and myself....  eye will create the basic income trust separately....  and poseiden will have NO say in whether or not the world has a basic income....  eye am done trying to convince the stubborn old geezer....  eye am done trying to convince him....  perhaps he has a stone heart as well....  and when this becomes my world....  before eye give it to him and the moon....  eye will create the basic income....  whoops....  eye forgot to tell poseiden....  it might be his world....  but eye get to draw the chart....  and maybe....  one day....  eye will be able to move him.... closer to the heart....  and let go of the reigns....  turn the reigns over to him again....
