robinson patman act....

the federal government passed the robinson patman act in nineteen thirty-six....   and....  no one has really enforced it....  eye will enforce it....

the robinson patman act protects smaller businesses....  it does not allow a supplier to charge one business one price and charge another business another price....  it does not allow large businesses to negotiate really low prices....  and force smaller businesses to pay higher prices....

enforcing this law.....  does three things....  first....  it gets rid of the need for any business to have a function that negotiates prices....  it eliminates the need for this position in both the supplier and the purchaser....  eliminating a lot of wasteful spending....  and then....  it makes it so that larger companies cannot take advantage of smaller suppliers....  they cannot negotiate prices that will eventually bankrupt the supplier....  finally....  it allows the shop on the corner....  to purchase their product....  at the same price that the largest national players pay for their goods....  it gets rid of one of the most unfair advantages from size....  forget what all of the large companies say....  when they say that they are just more efficient....  that is a MYTH....  they are simply able to negotiate better deals....  with cities....  through tax breaks....  with suppliers....  with everyone....  enforcing this law helps eliminate the unfair advantages of size....

when eye had a small grocery store....  eye had to pay much higher prices than my larger competitors....  they always got the best product and paid the lowest prices....  the worst example was from a soft drink manufacturer....  the price that eye had to pay for the product directly from the manufacturer...  was so much higher....  than the price they were charging my larger competitors....  that eye could actually but the product from a large national grocery chain....  at a LOWER price than eye was paying for it directly from the manufacturer....  the price that the manufacturer was charging the large national chain....  was SO much lower....  that they could mark the product up....  and it would cost me less....  to buy it from them....  then the manufacturer....  eye was basically subsidizing the large national chains....  when the robinson patman act is not enforced....  all small businesses are subsidizing their larger national competitors....
