what has compromise gotten you....  the democrats wanted to create programs for the poor....  and the republicans insisted they end at some point....  so....  if you make a certain amount of money....  you lose ALL of your benefits....  compromise brought you the poverty trap....  welfare....  is JUST one example....  of the DISASTER that compromise can bring....
