in my world....  we encourage people to do the right thing....  rather than FORCE them to do the right thing....

eye will give you one example right now....  and provide more as this process moves along....

eye am going to provide more detail when eye discuss carbon taxes in another chapter....  but for now eye will hit the highlights....  the current environmental policys try to FORCE people to reduce their carbon footprint....  reduce their environmental footprint....  the current policy....  is to tell developers what they can and cannot do....  what products they will use in thier buildings....  the current establishment loves playing god....  telling people what they can and cannot do....  they love FORCING people to give up quality of life....  even to the point of harming them....  it is not a matter of just asking them to give up their luxuries....  in some situations they are actually forcing people to give up amenities that actually help them maintain their health....  for instance....  my apartment complex....  eye am almost certain....  directed by the city....  will not allow me to reduce my air conditioner below sixty-eight degrees....  when....  eye have trouble sleeping in anything above sixty-three degrees....  many people say that the ideal temperature for sleep is around sixty two degrees....  and yet....  it is my belief....  that cities around the country are forcing people to sleep at less than healthy temperatures....  all in an effort to save the environment....  at the cost....  to our health....  eye could go on and on about this....  because it is rotten....  it is wrong....  but eye will stop here....  for now....

in my world....  we encourage people to do the right thing....  we would implement a carbon tax....  a revenue neutral carbon tax....  making the cost of gasoline and coal nearly twice as expensive as it is today....  at the same time....  we would reduce another tax....  ideally the sales tax....  so that there is no net impact to the tax payer....  however....  it would ENCOURAGE individuals and businesses to reduce their carbon footprint....  this leaves the choices....  of HOW to reduce a carbon footprint....  to the individuals and to the businesses....  it is much better on the psychology of citizens to let them make their own choices....  it is much better to allow people to decide....  if and how they are going to save the environment....  rather than have some premodona force them to save the environment....   

encouragement....  encouragement....  encouragement....  it is how you get things done....  without stepping on anyones toes....  it is a PERFECT approach to government....  by the way....  eye am going to come up with a better term for government....  because....  you have made it a nasty word....  the way that you govern....  gives governing a bad name....  you....  give governing a bad name....
