treble damages....

if you want to put an end to theft....  you need to emplement treble damages....  this is how treble damages works....  when a person steals one hundred dollars....  you make them pay the victim three hundred dollars....  it is a simple system....  and....  it is highly effective in stopping theft....  of any kind....  

there are other policies that need to be implemented along with treble damages....  in order to make it more effective....  one such policy....  is implementing a basic income that lifts everyone out of poverty....  on day one....  implementing a basic income that is higher than the poverty level....  will eliminate poverty....

when you implement a basic income that is higher than the poverty level....  you eliminate the need to steal for survival....  with a basic income....  everyone gets their basic needs met....  so they no longer have a valid reason to steal....  a reason that is justifiable....  eliminating justified theft is one reason that the basic income helps with the implementation of treble damages....

the other reason a basic income helps....  is because...  the basic income makes it very easy to implement treble damages....  when you have a basic income....  if someone steals a thousand dollars....  all the government needs to do....  is take a certain percentage out of the theifs basic income....  for a period....  until the victim is compensated....  in triplicate....
